UNANIMOUSLY ACCEPTED BY 185 COUNTRIES
President Yesugay Aksakal said, “In the 71st assembly of the United Nations General Assembly, on 12 December 1995, 'Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality' was unanimously accepted by 185 countries. Dozens of countries, especially Turkey, became the joint presenters of the decision. The neutrality of Turkmenistan, registered with this decision, is the only and sole country that has been recognized by the United Nations organization with an official decision for the first time. December 12, which is a very important and historical turning point for Turkmenistan, has been celebrated as the Day of Neutrality in Turkmenistan since that day.”
'INTERNATIONAL NEUTRALITY DAY' WAS ANNOUNCED IN 2017
Aksakal said, “On February 2, 2017, the United Nations General Assembly declared ‘12 December’ as the ‘International Day of Neutrality’ as a result of Turkmenistan's initiatives, raising the date to the international level. Since 2017, December 12 is celebrated not only as the Neutrality Day of Turkmenistan, but also as the ‘World Neutrality Day’ all over the world.”
“WE CELEBRATE THE DAY OF NEUTRALITY IN TURKEY FOR THE FIRST TIME”
Stressing the peaceful and well-intentioned policies of Turkmenistan, Aksakal said, “Led by the respected Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov, adhering to the principle of impartiality over the years, the basis of the country's foreign policy by implementing the peaceful and well-intentioned neighborly policy has formed. As Turkmenistan Friendship, Assistance and Cooperation Association, perhaps for the first time, we celebrate the Neutrality Day together in Turkey, outside of Turkmenistan.” Turkmen artists Babayrat Ereshov and Begenc Orayev presented Turkmen tunes to the guests. At the end of the night, famous pop artist Irem Derici took the stage. Citizens of Turkmenistan, from 7 to 70, accompanied Derici and had an unforgettable night.
